The Rosenblatt Trio plays a mix of original music and re-invented classics in styles from all over the world. Salsa, Cha Cha, Waltz, Klezmer, Swing, Hip-Hop and Samba are some of the main inspirations for the earthy, acoustic sound that Eli and his collaborators create. The music is at once raw and elegant, with rhythm and swing to start the dance party and captivating melodies to entice the ear.
Eli Rosenblatt is a vocalist, composer and multi-instrumentalist based in Seattle, Washington, USA. From the Americas to Cuba to Eastern Europe to Africa, his music spans the globe, creating a unique, infectious sound.
He has performed at The Tractor Tavern, The Showbox, Nectar, Neumos and Bumbershoot among many other venues in the Seattle area as well as performances up and down the West Coast and in NYC and New Jersey. With David Bestock, he co-wrote and performed in the Holiday farce, Wisemen, which premeired at ACT's Bulleit cabaret in 2011 and played at ACT's Falls Theatre in 2012.
His compositions have been featured on National Television Series', Burn Notice, Persons Unknown and Better Call Saul as well as the feature film, Coach.
In addition to his work with the Rosenblatt Trio, Sam is the drummer and percussionist for Juno Award-winning, Canadian band, The Paperboys, touring regularly in Europe as well as the US and Canada. He makes his home in the historic Ballard neighborhood of Seattle where he teaches students of all ages and abilities. A proud endorser of Protection Racket Drum Cases, Sam also performs regularly with several other Seattle based groups including Maracujá, Polyrhythmics, The Gin Joints, Locarno, Alex Dunn, Cordaviva, Bryant Moore Band, Trio Abaraka, EntreMundos Quarteto, and others.
Starting at the age of 8, Sam studied with renowned LA/Orange County jazz drummer and bandleader, Evan Stone. After moving to the Seattle area, he continued his drum set studies with Garey Williams and meanwhile took up Latin percussion, studying under “JC” Johnny Conga. Still craving more, Sam traveled to Brazil twice to study pandeiro and Brazilian percussion with Clarice Magalhães and Julio Braga. He is known for his crisp, nuanced playing, unshakeable groove, and keen sense of dynamics and timing.
In his 20+ years of holding down the bass line with his earthy groove and huge tone, Matt has recorded and toured nationally and/or internationally with The Todalo Shakers, The Hot Club of Cowtown, The Asylum Street Spankers, Butch Thompson, Becky Kilgore, Danny Barnes and Matt Munisteri, to name a few.
His versatility - he Bows, Plucks and Slaps the upright bass with equal aplomb) and beautiful tone have made him one of the busiest bassists in the Northwest, often playing upwards of 200 shows a year. His work in The Rosenblatt Trio also highlights his strong tenor voice in harmonies with lead vocalist, Eli Rosenblatt.
